Pin It To Win It Giveaway: A Unit on Density and STEM Challenge

I am hosting my first ever "A Pin It to Win It" giveaway to showcase our new science resource, Density:  A Unit on Sinking and Floating and STEM Challenge.

Jamie Knefely from Teaching Tidbits and More with Jamie and I decided to collaborate and start creating science units.  We both teach 2nd grade at different schools in Bossier City, Louisiana.  We both agreed that the curriculum and resources available for elementary teachers was scarce.  Therefore, since two heads are better than one, we said, "Why not get together and design some differentiated science units that could be used in a variety of different grade levels, as well as for homeschooled students.

Sooooo...... as we sit here together on this Sunday after church {and lunch} with stomachs as full as ticks, we are getting ready to launch Simply Southern Science's first resource, Density:  A Unit on Sinking and Floating.

We felt that this resource would be a perfect addition to any 2nd - 6th grade science teacher's density lesson plans.  You may be thinking, "Wow...that's a broad range of grades!"  However, we know that all great teachers have the natural ability to adjust their lessons to best fit the needs of their students.

This density resource has a multitude of activities to choose from if you are seeking a complete unit, or if you would like to pick and choose and add activities to your existing units.  Included are the following hands-on science experiments...  1.  The Density Tower  2. STEM Challenge:  Build a Floating Raft, and  3. Coke/Diet Coke:  Which will Float?  (Also...a great compare/contrast activity is included to cross the curriculum in ELA!)

We have also included suggestions and a weekly lesson plan layout for teaching the components in this unit.  These activities provide great opportunities for whole group instruction, small group activities, and independent learning.

Besides the experiments, this product is packed with vocabulary task cards that can be incorporated with your favorite Kagan Structures, a vocabulary foldable, links for a differentiated activity to meet your technology standards, lesson extension ideas for fast finishers, Scoot game, assessment, Exit Ticket, links to educational videos, literacy links, and much more!

We are positive that you will be FLOATING on Cloud 9 as your students SINK their minds into this Density Unit...No pun intended!  ;)

If you would like a chance to win Simply Southern Science's first science unit, follow these SIMPLE directions:  1.  {SIMPLY} pin the cover page to a relevant Pinterest Board.  2. {SIMPLY} leave a comment to this blog post and include your email address (especially if you are a no-reply blogger) 3.  {SIMPLY} copy and paste the pin's URL from your Pinterest board.
