About Me

Hello!  Thank you so much for wanting to get to know me!  I have been teaching since 1993.  I have been fortunate enough to teach my entire career in the same parish that I attended K-12th grade!{btw....A parish is what the rest of the U.S. refers to as a county!}  It has been so rewarding to be able to give back to the same school system that educated and invested in me!  I have taught first grade (7 years), second grade (starting my 8th year) and third grade (6 years).  I think it's safe to say 2nd grade is where my heart belongs!

Love was just a word until this guy {Greg} came into my life in 1989!  We will be celebrating our 24th, yes I said TWENTY-FOURTH, wedding anniversary this year!  Greg is a bench jeweler, and we own a local jewelry store in Bossier City, Louisiana.

The greatest two blessings in our lives are our two daughters, Emily and Anna Kate!  They definitely keep our household in stitches, and try their hardest to keep us on our toes....
However, as you can see from the picture below...the STRUGGLE is REAL!
Emily (on the left) is a senior at Louisiana Tech.  She will be graduating in November with a marketing degree and is wanting to pursue a career in pharmaceutical sales.  Most agree that this girl is my clone.  She is a MESS!!  Loves spending time with her boyfriend of 6 years, Chase... a very active Kappa Delta member...and LOVES to shop as much as Peter loved the Lord!!  She is my "go girl"....If she isn't actively in route somewhere, she's thinking about where she wants to go!

Anna Kate is a senior at Airline High School, in Bossier City.  She is a varsity cheerleader, an officer in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a National Honor Society member, and the QUEEN of Netflix at our home!  She is my HOMEBODY! (is homebody even a compound word?....hmmm!) Just as much as Emily loves to shop, this baby girl loves her T.V.  She also loves to go on mission trips.  She LOVES children...in fact, the only thing she wanted for Christmas last year was to sponsor a little boy she selected through Compassion International.  Her plans are to pursue a degree in nursing after high school.

Thankful for my AMAZING Principal and for a School that Believed in Me!

This is my squad!  The fact that I get to teach EVERY day with these girls blesses my heart more than they will every know!  We range in age from 26-44....YES...I'M THE 44!  I often refer to myself as the "Granny of the Group"!  Honestly, we are the epitome of a TEAM, and I cling to the quote, "TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK"!

    1. Stacie,
Ahhhh.....HAUGHTON?? Did you graduate from Haughton? If so, what year? What part of Texas? We love going to Dallas!! I'm sure it's no big deal to residents, but it sure opens up a whole new level of dining, shopping, and things to do compared to Bossier City!

Thank you so much for your well wishes! I look forward to sharing ideas and classroom happenings with teachers from around the globe! Please share my blog with your colleagues!

      Hugs,
      Kelly
